Create your first EICR draft

Before you begin

Allow about 15 minutes. Note your device model and the version/build shown in Settings. You can work locally without creating an account. If you already have real records in the app, leave them alone and create a clearly labelled practice draft.

What works offline in SnapCert?

Once SnapCert is installed, you can create and edit clients, sites and EICR drafts without an account or an internet connection. Saved records stay on that device, and you can reopen a draft and preview its PDF locally.

• Local draft work: record inspection findings, boards, circuits, observations and test results in the app.
• Sign-in and sync: require a connection. Optional sync shares source records between your signed-in devices.
• Photos and exported PDFs: stay on the device where they are stored. Cloud sync is not an independent backup.

This guide is a software practice session. Customer-ready EICRs are unavailable, so continue using your existing process for reports you need to issue.

1. Start with a practice client and site

Choose New EICR, then New client. Use a name such as “Practice client — sample only”, without a real email address or phone number. Continue to a new site and label it “Practice installation — sample only”. Fill required location fields with practice details, then choose Start EICR.

Use “Workflow practice — not an inspection” for the reason or scope where appropriate. This record does not describe a real electrical installation.

2. Find your way around the report

Open the setup, boards and inspection-schedule sections. Look for where you would record an inspection finding and its observation. Leave results and classifications unset when you have no inspection evidence; you do not need to fill every field for this exercise.

Notice any label you need to read twice or any point where you lose your place. That is useful feedback.

3. Return to the same draft

Save any edits, close the report and return to Home. Reopen the practice draft and check that your client, site and saved text are still there.

To try the local workflow without a signal, disconnect after SnapCert is installed, reopen the same draft and make a small practice edit. Reconnect before emailing feedback or using sign-in and sync.

4. Preview the draft PDF

Open Preview PDF and choose Preview. Check that the document is marked as a draft and that the practice client/site are recognisable. Missing inspection information is expected in this sample.

You do not need to add a real signature, make up test measurements or send the document to a customer. Photos and PDF exports remain on the device where they are stored.

5. Tell us what happened

Send a short note with your device, app version/build and answers to these questions:

• Did you reach the PDF preview? If you stopped, where?
• Where did you hesitate, lose your place or need help?
• Would you use this workflow for another practice draft? What would need to change first?

Use Settings › Send feedback, or email your feedback. Leave customer names, addresses, signatures and certificate contents out of the message.

If the app closes unexpectedly, stop the session and report the crash. A partial attempt is useful evidence too.
